1128 North Northlake was originally built in 1952 and designed by architect Claus Moberg. The architecture style now called Mid-Century Modern is a further development of 1930’s Streamline Modern with more exaggerated horizontals, thin walls and cluster windows. The project is a 1,200 square foot addition on the second level, removing the existing second story bedrooms to create a two-story living room and expanding the cabana and garage at ground level. The new design re-establishes the integrity of the original design by keeping within the architectural style originally designed by Claus Moberg esteemed within the historic Lakes location. It is the intent of this project to return the residence to a cohesive architectural style, emphasize rear water views while incorporating natural materials and native landscape.
